The Patriot International Lite travel insurance offered by International Medical Group (IMG) is specifically designed for short term visitors outside the USA and is a hugely popular choice among tourists. This plan covers COVID-19 like any other illness.
The plan meets Schengen Visa requirements or Europe Long Term visa requirements as long as you choose a $50,000 maximum (at least) with a $0 deductible (some countries require a $0 deductible). Immediately after purchase, you will receive a confirmation email with details of the links to ID cards and a "visa letter".
The visa letter is what the consulate needs to see for visa purposes and states it covers COVID. They are considered official documents even though you print them out yourself. The plan is available for a minimum of 5 days and a maximum of 2 years.
There is a co-insurance in this plan which is designed in the following manner. Outside the US there is no co-insurance and the plan pays 100%. The deductible for this plan is per injury or sickness.
There are trip interruption and lost luggage benefits available within this plan. The coverage for acute onset of pre-existing conditions is available for a Non US citizen up to age 70. This coverage is up to the maximum limit of the plan or $500,000 whichever is lower. Coverage for the same is available up to plan maximum limit for a US citizen with primary health plan up to age 65 years.
For US citizens without the primary health plan, up to age 65, the coverage is available for up to $20,000 maximum limit. For US citizens older than 65 years the coverage available is up to $2,500 for the same. There is also an adventure sports rider available on this plan along with other riders like Evacuation rider and citizenship rider.
